On retirement, this client moved back into their childhood home in Edinburgh’s southside.

“It’s a special house with lots of memories and I love being back. The house needed altering so that we could get more connection with the garden. We also wanted to make changes so that we could welcome our children and grandchildren when they come to stay”.

Oliver Chapman Architects worked to alter the lower ground floor of their Listed building, fitting a wetroom shower and utility room next to the spare bedrooms, as well as taking a wall down between two rooms on the upper ground floor to make a large family kitchen dining area with a window seat. The kitchen overlooks a new, award winning, oak terrace and staircase leading to a stone garden terrace and access to the lower ground floor.
