This invited competition design for Edinburgh’s former Odeon cinema site, owned by Duddingston House Properties, will create a pedestrian street in the middle of high density, low rise housing.

Live Work units will give people a home that can incorporate a small office with its own separate entrance. The central street will double as amenity space for children’s play as cars will not generally have access. Pedestrians can reach both Buccleuch Street and South Clerk Street via pends.

One wing of apartments steps down in height to maximise daylight penetration. The stepped roofs double as terraced gardens constructed with turf roofs.
