‘Beyond Words’ Bookshop
Edinburgh
The long line of bookcases opposite the stone wall is designed as a three dimensional wall-lining full of pocket-spaces for books. An upper row of thick birch plywood rectilinear units projects from the wall.
Below is a row of colourful curvilinear book display units with integrated lighting. The sales counter is also curvilinear with a solid shouldering element that screens the view of the space below the desk. The shopfront glazing, lighting and signage was remodelled.
The shop was previously an office and had little character except for a timber floor and one white painted stone party wall.
