OCA are leading a team to develop the former ‘Egg Shed’ building site next to Pier Square in Ardrishaig, Mid Argyll where the Crinan Canal meets Loch Gilp. The project’s recent regeneration grant funding award from the Scottish Government follows on from successful Crinan Charrette public engagement events also led by OCA, which identified a number of public realm and enterprise projects to help improve the area.

The site’s location on the side of the loch, close to the harbour meant it suited storage of local produce (giving the building its name ‘Egg Shed’  from the transit storage of eggs and dairy) but latterly it stored fuel. Large parts of the funding are allocated to remediation work to cap and raise the land.

The new facility is being designed to be flexible for a variety of potential end users including; affordable workspace, a small venue, or artisan food manufacture.
