Edinburgh's Old Town is characterised by the pattern of steep and narrow closes and wynds running perpendicular to the Royal Mile, which stretches between the Castle at one end, and Parliament at the other. The buildings along Warristons Close mostly date from the 18th Century, and it was within this historic fabric that this new intervention took place.
Oliver Chapman Architects were commissioned to convert the ground floor of one of the existing buildings along the Close into a new Live Puzzle Game, pertinently based around the story of the body-snatchers in 19th Century Edinburgh. The adaptation of the space included the insertion of a series of different rooms within the existing volume, and the seamless integration of the necessary technology to facilitate the activities within.
